Prionolepis cataphractus

This 210 mm long Prionolepis leaves no doubt that it too was a fish predator as shown by 80 mm fish contained within. Notice the exquisite preservation displayed in the head structure, showing gills, and in the posterior part of the specimen where even a portion of the external scales can still be seen on this Cenomanian Stage (93-97 m.y.a.) predator. This is an excellent opportunity to add a moment frozen in time for over 90 million years. Fossil fish is from Haqel, Lebanon.
